    Hickory Flats...

By my calculations, the only chance I have of continuously riding is getting my Rockwells under a rig.

I'm back to 0 rigs that run.

    Re: Hickory Flats...

I had a mild fever all day, basically I wanted to stay in the truck and drink orange juice and water.

So... Of course, I hit a headlight deep rut/mudhole in 2nd lo. knocked the driver front tire off the bead and busted a hub or stub shaft (most likely hub).

Andy winched me back and he, Ethan, and Tristan helped get the tire off and clean all the mud/water/gravel out of it. We only had a 5 gal air tank and not much hope of getting the tire seated and aired up. We chucked the tire into the back of Tristans truck and rode up to where the rest of the group was waiting.

We wrapped Andy's winch cable around the tire and hooked it to Tristan's bumper to spread the beads and used CO2 to blow pop the beads.

We trucked it back down to the Gargoyle, got the tire remounted and I set off in 3wd.

As I approached the rest of the group, I blipped the throttle coming up a small ledge, springs wrapped, rear end hopped, and that all-to-familiar-to-me sound of stripped ring and pinion gears rang out.

Down to 1wd and puking gear oil from where the rear gears decieded to areate the 9" housing, I tucked tail took the strap from a Jeep (James) to get me back facing down hill and out to the gravel road.

Went back to the Market, retreived the tow rig and sulked home to spend the next 24 hours in bed under the daze of Nyquil.

     I'm good now.

Thanks to all that helped me out of the woods!

    Re: Hickory Flats...

I decided to replace my torsion bars the night before and popped the adj bolt. Sooo i decided to just ride along with Chris ? (should know his last name) He has a Landrover that goes really good.and I will be making the case that he should join our club.

We all started piling in at the store around 8:30 it was colder than I thought it would be but a cup of coffee and a sausage biscuit helped. We headed up the valley right on time. We hit the trail after 15 minutes of road driving. I have wheeled with Andy before and was glad to see him and meet his son. His son has more balls than me riding that quad all wet and cold.

After an easy hill climb we ran along the ridge to a hunt camp clearing and then had to cut a couple trees down from the last storm. L suggested to Nick the obstacle that got his wheel, in hinsight I should have went with them to give a little advise about the rocks in the mud hole....sorry!!

I have a short video of Andy crossing another mudhole I'll try to figure out how to post it? Hopefully those that came up will be willing to try it again later on in the spring?

Roger - a "web rider"????  I've heard some interesting rumors about your new rig - I can't wait to see it!

I think we're going to have ot teach Nick a new word this year -"moderation" :-)  Of course, who am I to talk - my junk is still broken and sitting in the barn from Christmas.......
